Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Minister of State for Labour and Employment, has announced that the ministry will launch the Renewed Hope Labour Employment and Empowerment Programme by the end of October which aims at creating 2.5 million jobs opportunities.
Onyejeocha described the plan as a comprehensive suite of actions aimed at employment development by her government.
Speaking at a ministry-organised event on Friday, Onyejeocha stated that LEEP was part of continuous efforts to revitalise the nation’s economy and create jobs to tackle unemployment.
She stated that the project would help to create 2.5 million direct and indirect jobs on a yearly basis.
“Through the LEEP Digital Nomads pillar, we will develop and nurture the talents and expertise of our significant youth population to access income revenue streams from the global job market. This will be achieved by enhancing their digital literacy and global remote work offerings,” she added.
She also highlighted that the LEEP Vocational and Entrepreneurship Programme would cultivate industrial and cottage-relevant skills training for employment and entrepreneurship.
She spoke further, “We will upgrade and expand our National Electronic Labour Exchange platform to expedite automated employment recruitment processes across all employment types nationally.
“This is to meet the growing demand for learning spaces suitable for apprenticeships, production hubs, and business incubators,” she said.
