President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the country will ultimately overcome insecurity, praising the courage and sacrifice of the Armed Forces.

The president gave the assurance on Friday during an interfaith breaking of fast with members of the Armed Forces at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Tinubu told the troops that the nation remained grateful for their commitment and the risks they take in defending the country.

“I have listened to the Chief of Army Staff on my recent approvals to the Nigerian Armed Forces. My duty is to thank all of you on behalf of a grateful nation,” the president said.

He acknowledged the challenges faced by military personnel, noting that many remain separated from their families while confronting bandits and terrorists across the country.

“I commend your courage, sacrifice and professionalism as you put your lives on the line in defence of Nigeria’s sovereignty and the safety of its citizens,” he added.

Tinubu said the efforts of security forces had significantly weakened terrorist groups and bandits operating in different regions.

“You have been working to serve the country deeply and protect our sovereignty. This nation will always be grateful to you and your sacrifices will not be in vain,” he said.

The president reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare and operational capacity of the military.

He said the government would continue investing in modern equipment, intelligence gathering and logistics to strengthen military operations.

Tinubu also thanked Nigerians for their patience amid ongoing economic reforms.

“I am happy to inform you that your sacrifices and that of fellow citizens are not in vain. We are now out of the dark tunnel,” the president said.

He also expressed sympathy to the government and people of Borno State following a recent terrorist attack in the state.

Earlier, the Chief of Defence Staff, Oluwafemi Oluyode, represented by the Chief of Army Staff Waidi Shaibu, thanked the president for approvals aimed at improving military welfare.

He said the measures include salary increases for members of the Armed Forces, higher allowances for the Brigade of Guards, procurement of equipment and improved accommodation for personnel.

According to him, the approvals would strengthen operational efficiency and boost morale across the military.

He added that the fasting period offers an opportunity for service members to renew their commitment to the nation.
