    Tinubu bags lifetime African achievement award

    President Tinubu approves N10 billion emergency funding and establishes a task force to strengthen Nigeria’s Ebola preparedness and response systems.

    President Bola Tinubu has been awarded the prestigious Lifetime African Achievement Prize by Ghana’s Millennium Excellence Foundation in recognition of his leadership and contributions to the continent.

    Represented by Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Tinubu received the honor as the Special Guest of Honour during the Millennium Excellence Prize’s 25th-anniversary celebration in Kumasi, Ghana.

    In his acceptance speech, Tinubu praised Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene and patron of the Foundation, for the invitation and the successful event. He commended the Foundation for its decades-long commitment to celebrating African excellence.

    “I salute the visionaries behind this institution for upholding values of honor, integrity, and service,” Tinubu stated. “By recognizing icons like Desmond Tutu, Wole Soyinka, Cyril Ramaphosa, and Mo Ibrahim, this award continues to inspire generations.”

    The Nigerian President urged young Africans to rise with courage and contribute to a united, prosperous Africa through advancements in governance, technology, entrepreneurship, and the arts. He also called for greater continental collaboration to shape Africa’s future.

    The ceremony also honored other distinguished leaders, including:

    – Dr. Benedict Oramah (AFREXIM Bank)– Global Intra-African Trade Excellence

    – Gov. Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom) – Lifetime Prize for Governance & Public Service

    – AbdulSamad Rabiu (BUA Group)– African Excellence in Business

    – Dumo Lulu-Briggs – Traditional Leadership & Business Excellence

    The Nigerian President emphasized that the Millennium Excellence Prize remains a beacon of inspiration, aligning with Africa’s developmental aspirations.
