President Bola Tinubu has invited Guinea’s leader, Mamadi Doumbouya, for a state visit to Nigeria following a bilateral meeting held on the sidelines of the Africa CEO Forum in Kigali.

The development was disclosed on Thursday by Sunday Dare, special adviser to the president on media and publicity, while briefing journalists after the day’s engagements in Rwanda.

The ongoing Africa CEO Forum has brought together more than 2,500 decision-makers for executive dialogues, debates and negotiations focused on advancing shared ownership and economic growth across the continent.

The annual summit is regarded as one of the largest international gatherings of Africa’s private sector leaders.

According to Dare, both leaders discussed prospects for stronger economic cooperation, particularly in Guinea’s mineral and metals sector, which presents major partnership opportunities for Nigeria.

“The President had a fruitful meeting, and you know Guinea is in debt to our president; he got some very good advice,” Dare said.

“Very soon, on the invitation of President Tinubu, he is likely to visit Nigeria.”

Doumbouya, who recently won Guinea’s presidential election with 86.2 per cent of the vote, is currently overseeing the country’s transition towards civilian democratic governance.

Dare added that the meeting signalled a new phase of bilateral cooperation between Nigeria and Guinea, especially in mining and natural resources.

“Guinea has a lot of potential, metals, minerals, and so on.

“The opening for partnership between Nigeria and Guinea has been opened.

“The possibilities are great, and I’m sure we will see that develop in the days and years ahead,” he said.
