The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has successfully restored electricity supply to Bayelsa State and parts of Rivers State following the repair of its vandalised 132kV Owerri–Ahoada transmission line.

In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, confirmed that the transmission line was reconnected to the national grid on April 11 around 6 p.m.

”With this restoration, the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) is now able to supply electricity to Bayelsa and parts of Rivers,” Mbah stated.

She explained that the reconnection came after reconstruction efforts were completed on the line, which had been damaged due to the collapse of four transmission towers caused by vandalism.

”These areas have been experiencing outages since towers 71 to 74 on the transmission line route were vandalised on March 11,” she said.

Mbah emphasized TCN’s commitment to delivering reliable power supply nationwide and called on communities to actively support efforts to curb the vandalisation of critical transmission infrastructure.

“TCN remains dedicated to providing reliable power across the nation and encourages communities to join in the fight against the vandalisation of critical transmission installations,” she added.
