Victor Osimhen won his first Turkish Super Lig award shortly after joining Galatasaray on a season-long loan from Napoli.

The Nigeria international’s goal against Kasımpaşa was chosen Goal of the Week by beIN SPORTS, with 77.96% of the total votes.

Osimhen scored his first goal and then added his first brace, but it was insufficient to clinch all three points for the Turkish champions, who surrendered a three-goal lead to allow the visitors to split the spoils.

The 25-year-old demonstrated his talent and decisiveness by volleying home with his left foot after receiving a feed from former Napoli teammate Dries Marten to give his club a 2-0 lead.

Despite missing pre-season owing to transfer problems, Osimhen has swiftly established himself as an important player for Galatasaray, scoring or assisting in each of his four outings.

He has two goals and four assists in four appearances for the Lions this season after coming on loan from Napoli.

However, Osimhen is now sidelined due to an injury sustained during a league game.

He missed Wednesday’s Europa League match against RFS in Latvia, but his injury is not serious, and he is expected to recover shortly.

He could be back in action this weekend when Galatasaray faces Alanyaspor in the Super Lig.

Meanwhile, the former Lille player has stated that Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk played a crucial part in enticing him to join the club.

“Okan Buruk is the key to my transfer,” Osimhen told A Spor. “I was incredibly impressed when I spoke to him.”

The initial loan agreement keeps Osimhen at Galatasaray for four months.

However, his good start has sparked talk about a possible extension.

Despite Osimhen’s loan move, sources claim Chelsea is still interested in acquiring him.

The Blues are reportedly ready to offer €90 million for the Nigerian striker during the January transfer window.
