Olomola featured on the bench for Claude Puel’s side in both the Premier League and Europa League before making his debut in the EFL Cup against Sunderland, and feels he has gained a lot from his time with Southampton’s stars.

“Seeing the first team play on a weekly basis was a great experience, some of the quality is unbelievable and I hope to one day be in that place,” he said

“You gain a lot because you see the ability you need but not just the ability, the work you need off the ball to get to that level as well.”

Despite Olomola’s trip to Huish Park being his first venture away from Hampshire, he links up with a familiar face in former team-mate Bevis Mugabi.

Prior to joining Darren Way’s side, Olomola admits to speaking to Town’s previous Southampton recruit.

He said: “(Bevis said) they made him feel at home here and it’s a very welcoming club.

“He said the manager was great to him and gave him games under his belt. I had a chat with him and he had nothing but good things to say about this club.”
