The Anambra State First Lady, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has expressed her joy and excitement over the 10-year-old boy’s full recovery and release from the hospital in Awada, Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area.
Remember that the youngster, Chiziterem, has been undergoing care under state protection since a viral video showed horrific injuries and burns allegedly inflicted on him by his guardians, a woman and her husband, in June.
The victim’s video showing extensive injuries on his body went viral on social media, causing great outrage and drawing the attention of Soludo, who intervened.
The governor’s wife, who later gained custody of the youngster and promised to take full responsibility for his rehabilitation and recovery, had been visiting him in the hospital, ensuring he received expert medical, psychological, and emotional treatment to aid his recovery and reintegration.
Speaking after one of the hospital visits, the governor’s wife expressed joy that the boy’s condition had improved, calling his suffering a sobering reminder of society’s responsibility to safeguard vulnerable youngsters.
Soludo, on the other hand, expressed her joy at the boy’s recovery in a press statement issued on Saturday, thanking everyone who was moved by his story, those who visited him, and those who donated gifts.
She went on to say that their compassion and empathy contributed significantly to the boy’s speedy recovery and stability.
She said, “My heart is filled with immense gratitude as Chiziterem leaves the hospital today fully healed. His journey reminds us that kindness, compassion, and collective love can restore hope even in the most difficult situations.
“I sincerely thank everyone who was touched by his story; those who visited him, prayed for him, sent gifts, offered words of encouragement, and stood with his family throughout this period. Your generosity and empathy truly made a real difference.
“As promised, I have taken care of all his medical bills, and we will also support his mother with the means to start a sustainable livelihood so she can provide a better future for her children.
“May Chiziterem’s recovery keep reminding us that every act of kindness has the power to change a life forever. God bless you all.”
