The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has formally submitted the name of its presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo, to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a letter signed by the SDP National Secretary, Olu Agunloye, and addressed to INEC following the party’s national convention and presidential primary held in Bauchi on May 9, 2026, the party stated that it was officially forwarding the information of its elected presidential flag bearer for the 2027 presidential election.
The party said that the convention and direct primary election were held calmly and successfully at Bauchi’s Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, with Adebayo emerging as the lone aspirant and receiving the majority of delegates’ and party members’ votes.
According to the letter, titled “Submission of the Name and Other Details of SDP Presidential Candidate,” the party informed INEC that “the presidential candidate nominated by the Social Democratic Party for sponsorship in the 2027 presidential election is Prince Adewole Ebenezer Adebayo.”
The correspondence also requested INEC to provide the necessary nomination documents, including Forms EC9, EC9A, EC9B, EC9C, EC9D, and EC9E, for the formal completion of the candidate nomination process.
Adebayo, who was the SDP presidential candidate in the 2023 election, was returned unopposed at the party’s convention in Bauchi after emerging as the only aspirant vying for the ticket.
