Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu commemorated Mother’s Day on Sunday, applauding the sacrifices and critical contributions of mothers to families, communities, and Lagos state’s growth.
Sanwo-Olu emphasized that mothers’ roles extend outside the home, stating that their resilience, care, and dedication assist in building society’s future and nurturing the next generation.
To commemorate the event, the governor thanked moms around Lagos for their patience and dedication to raising responsible citizens in a statement posted on his official X account.
“Today, I want to wish mothers across Lagos a Happy Mother’s Day.
“One day is hardly enough to appreciate all that mothers do. From the quiet sacrifices made at home to the impact they have across our economy and communities, mothers help shape families and the future of our state.
“To every mother raising the next generation of Lagosians, thank you for your patience, your resilience, and your love. We see you, and we appreciate you.
“I hope you have a restful and beautiful day. You deserve it,” he said.
Sanwo-Olu also wished mothers a joyous celebration, encouraging them to relax and appreciate the recognition that comes with the unique day dedicated to honoring their contributions in society.
Mother’s Day is an annual celebration honoring mothers and motherhood, their influence in families, communities, and society at large.
In Nigeria, it is observed on the second Sunday of May in many states, though some regions align with the global calendar of “Mothering Sunday” in March.
The day is meant to recognize and appreciate the sacrifices, resilience, and contributions of mothers in nurturing families, raising children, and supporting societal growth.
