Mohamed Salah has been named the Premier League player of the season for the second time after leading Liverpool to a record-equalling 20th English crown.
He won the award after scoring 28 league goals (five more than anybody else) and providing 18 assists for Liverpool this season.
The 32-year-old Egyptian sensation is two assists shy of Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne’s single-season record as he heads into Sunday’s final against FA Cup winners Crystal Palace.
This award is decided by combining public votes with those of a panel of football experts. He also won it during the 2017-18 season.
He broke Manchester City’s four-year streak of winning the prize.
Virgil van Dijk, Salah’s teammate, was the last non-City player to win the accolade in 2018/19.
Van Dijk, who, like Salah, secured a new contract with Liverpool earlier in the season, was among the players Salah defeated in the poll.
The others were Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, Arsenal’s Declan Rice, Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White, Newcastle attacker Alexander Isak, Brentford talisman Bryan Mbeumo, and Nottingham Forest’s Chris Wood.
Salah was crowned Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year earlier this month, receiving over 90% of the votes, the largest margin of victory this century.
