Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Advisor, has refuted an online report that claimed his mother passed away on Monday, calling it inaccurate and deceptive.

After getting a lot of calls and messages from sympathizers, the NSAclarified the matter in a statement that was released on his verified X profile on Tuesday.

The explanation came after media reports said that Mamma Ribadu had passed away at the age of 86. The NSA and Sani Ribadu, the Emir of Fufore in Adamawa State, both regarded her as a respected mother and matriarch.

“I have been inundated with calls and messages from friends and associates following an inaccurate online publication claiming that my mother passed away on Monday, 19 January 2026,” Ribadu said.

The NSA emphasized that the report was inaccurate, pointing out that his mother had died 28 years ago, while thanking those who expressed sympathy.

“The publication is false and misleading. My mother of blessed memory passed away 28 years ago and therefore could not have died on Monday,” he stated.

Hajja Mamma Sulaiman Ribadu, the late uncle’s wife, passed away on Monday, according to the NSA.

“The person who passed on Monday is Hajja Mamma Sulaiman Ribadu, the wife of my late uncle. May Allah SWT forgive her shortcomings, bless her soul, and grant her Aljannat Firdaus,” he said.

The NSA thanked those who supported his family during the loss and asked God to reward them.
