The Gombe State Police Command has announced the recovery of the body of Enoch Sunday Maisamari, a 28-year-old Federal University Kashere student, from stagnant water in Sabon Garin Yero Village, Akko Local Government Area of the state.
DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the state police public relations officer, stated this in a text message to the press on Friday.
According to him, the incident was reported to police on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, about 9:30 a.m.
“The Gombe State Police Command received a report on 22nd July, 2026, at about 0930 hours of a recovered motionless body of one Enoch Sunday Maisamari, 28 years, a student of the Federal University Kashere, from stagnant water at Sabon Garin Yero Village, Akko LGA,” Abdullahi said.
He explained that the deceased was sent to the General Hospital in Kashere, where medical staff verified his death.
“The victim was evacuated to the General Hospital, Kashere, where he was certified dead. No visible marks of violence were observed on the body. Investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident,” the police spokesperson added.
The leadership stated that attempts were underway to determine the reason for the student’s death and urged the public to be calm while investigations progressed.
