The Katsina State Police Command has detained a 28-year-old man suspected of serving as an informant for bandits and confiscated illegal charms.
DSP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed this in a statement made Thursday in Katsina.
He stated that the culprit, Abdullahi Abdullahi, was detained following credible intelligence from Musawa Divisional Police Headquarters.
Sadiq-Aliyu stated that during interrogation, the suspect admitted to working with his brother in criminal acts, including making threats against victims.
“We called a victim and demanded the sum of N10 million or we would kill him,” the suspect reportedly admitted.
According to the spokeswoman, the suspect confessed to previous involvement in similar acts.
Umar Ali-Fage, the Commissioner of Police, has ordered increased efforts to locate and apprehend other fleeing suspects in the case.
Ali-Fage reaffirmed the command’s determination to combat banditry, warning that individuals who enable illegal operations would be “decisively dealt with.”
The CP asked locals to be watchful and report any suspicious movements to the nearest police station.
