The Ondo State Police Command reported on Saturday that a murder suspect, Femi Oladele, better known as Tallex, died after a brief illness.

Oladele was detained for allegedly being involved in the abduction and death of two Adekunle Ajasin University students, Andrel Okah and John Abba.

Andrel Okah of the Department of History and International Studies and John Abba of the Department of Economics, two pals, were claimed to be in their departments’ 200-level classes before disappearing from campus.

After they went missing for three weeks, their coworkers raised the alarm and reported the incident to the police.

The leadership then jumped into action and launched an investigation, which resulted in the arrest of Oladele and two other collaborators. Oladele was alleged to be a landlord for one of the victims.

During interrogation of the suspects, the police stated one of them confessed to killing the victims and dumping their remains in various areas throughout Ekiti State.

The police then revealed that Okah’s body had been located and lodged at a mortuary, while Abba’s was still being searched for.

According to a source, Oladele became ill while in police custody and was taken to a hospital, where he passed away.

“The suspect (Oladele) was sick in the custody where he was kept by the police. When his health condition was getting worse, he was quickly rushed to the hospital, where he later died.”

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the death of the suspect, disclosing that Oladele had been receiving treatment but succumbed in the early hours of Friday.

“Yes, he is dead. He had been under medical supervision since his arrest and had been in and out of the hospital.

He passed away yesterday (Friday). We have recovered the decomposing body of Okah and are still searching for Abba’s remains.

“We urge the public to disregard any attempt to twist the facts. The command remains fully committed to justice. Everyone involved will face the full weight of the law,” the PPRO stated.
