The Abia State Police Command has initiated a manhunt for a local vigilante who reportedly killed his girlfriend, stabbed her sister, and shot another man in Amakama, Ubakala, Umuahia South Local Government Area, Abia State.
According to ASP Maureen Chinaka, the state police public relations officer, the command received information on Thursday about an incident at Umuanga Amakama Community involving one Chinedu Anamelechi, who allegedly shot and killed Ezinne Ariwodo, stabbed her sister, and shot another young man in the area.
“Upon receipt of the report, operatives of the Command swiftly raced to the scene, where they found the lifeless body of the deceased in a pool of blood with gunshot injuries,” she said.
She revealed that the injured victims were rescued and rushed to the hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.
The victim, she claimed, was pronounced dead by medical staff and was taken to the morgue for preservation and autopsy. Exhibits found from the site were brought in for analysis.
Chinaka stated that normalcy had been restored in the region and asked community members not to take the law into their own hands.
“Investigation is ongoing as efforts are being made to apprehend the suspect,” she said.
