The All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the recently passed Plateau State governorship election, Nentawe Yitwalda, has accepted ”with humility,” the Supreme Court ruling that upheld the election of Gov. Caleb Mutfwang.

In a statement published on his verified X handle on Friday, Nentawe congratulated the Plateau State Governor over his victory at the Apex Court.

While also appreciating his teaming supporters for their support and prayers, Nentawe urged them to work in tandem to ensure the success of Plateau State.

Nentawe’s statement reads, ”Finally, we have reached the final destination of the 2023 general election process, and we accept the decision of the Supreme Court with humility and gratitude to God.

”Let me thank our supporters for their resilience, courage, and unwavering belief in the Generation Next Movement.

”Never before have I seen this bond of organic fraternity and personal sacrifices by supporters in a course they believe in.

”This is a testament to why, even in the darkest of times, the light of your hope and faith still shines.

”While I congratulate my elder brother, HE Caleb Mutfwang, I must also appreciate and commend the peaceful and calm disposition of our supporters.

”I still appeal to the citizens of Plateau and our numerous well-wishers to ensure we keep the peace of our state.

”Let us collectively work toward a secure, united, and prosperous plateau of our dreams because our resolve to build a cohesive and peaceful community is non-negotiable.

    ”Thank you so much, Plateau.”

Chronicle NG reports that the Supreme Court reversed the Court of Appeal’s decision to remove Muftwang as the governor of the state.

On Friday, a five-member panel of justices unanimously decided that Muftwang’s appeal has substance and should be accepted.

The ruling, read by Justice Emmanuel Agim, concluded that Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe and the APC’s petitions challenging Governor Muftwang’s appointment lacked locus standi since they were not PDP members.

The panel determined that the problem nomination was a political party internal matter and that the PDP followed the high court’s direction to conduct congresses.

He ruled that Muftwang was qualified to contest the election because the primary election that produced him was well conducted by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the PDP.

“The orders of the court have nothing to do with the powers of the national executive of the party to conduct primaries,” he said.

He ruled that there was no evidence that the PDP disobeyed an order issued by the Plateau State High Court ordering fresh congresses for the constitution of the state executive committee of the party.
