Nigerian human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju has condemned the recent hike in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol.
Adeyanju, in a statement on his X page on Wednesday, lamented over how Nigerians received the news of the hike in the price of the commodity without protesting.
Chronicle NG reports that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, has again jerked up the pump price of petrol to N1,030 per litre.
In the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, the product was previously sold for N897 per litre.
Chronicle NG further gathered that in Lagos, fuel, which previously sold for N885 per litre, is now being sold at N998 amid long queues.
Reacting to the recent hike in the price of the commodity, Adeyanju mentioned that unlike in the past where Nigerians protested the hike in fuel price, Nigerians today are lax about protesting today’s inflation.
“Fuel is now N1,030, but nobody wants to chase clout by protesting,” he said.
“Everybody is waiting for everyone to start a protest,” the human rights lawyer added.
