Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has refuted death rumours once again, addressing the persistent hoax.

This recent claims continues a trend of comparable false narratives starting from 2012, featuring made-up accounts of him dying overseas or in an accident.

The 78-year-old actor, famously referred to as Ebubedike, continues to be active and revered, having received accolades such as Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) and the AMVCA Industry Merit Award.

Pete Edochie voiced his annoyance, stating he has been “killed” seven times due to rumors spreading false information about his demise. He will celebrate his 79th birthday on March 7, attributing his own vigor to his family’s long lifespan.

In a phone call with Vanguard yesterday, Edochie dismissed the death rumors, stating, “I’m alive and will pass away when my creator calls me home.”

    • My husband Olu Jacobs is alive – Joke Silva

“I have been killed about seven times. There was a time they said I travelled abroad and died there. At other times, they said that the plane I boarded from Enugu to Ethiopia suddenly crashed and I didn’t survive.

“There was also a day my wife woke up to prepare for church service when her telephone rang and the caller said he heard that I passed away this morning. Last year, somebody from Ghana alleged that Pete Edochie was already in the grave.

“However, there was something late Nnamdi Azikiwe taught me when I interviewed him. He said that anybody who’s wishing you death will die before you.

“All those people that wished Zik death died before him. That was what I learned from Zik. On March 7, I will be 79. My father died at 96, so we have longevity in my family.”
