The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of Oyo State has won all 33 local government chairmanship election.

The Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission held the local government elections on Saturday.

The OYSIEC’s Isiaka Olagunju (SAN), who revealed the results of the poll on Sunday at the OYSIEC’s secretariat in Ibadan, stated that the PDP won all 33 LGs.

Olagunju stated that the electoral commission would consider areas for improvement in its report to the government, emphasising that no one can claim to be perfect.

Olagunju thanked all who contributed to the election’s victory, saying, “Of course, we are not perfect. There are areas of improvement. Anyhow, we promise you that it will be reflected in our report to the government. And I must not forget the governor of the state, because I must tell you the truth. If he hadn’t shown commitment, dedication, and support, we wouldn’t be where we are.”

Speaking to reporters following the formal announcement of the results, the Ibadan North-East Chairman-elect, Akintayo Ibrahim Akinsola, stated, “The election was really peaceful; it was free, fair, and credible.

“Everyone came out to vote for their preferred candidates. As you have heard now, the people voted for the PDP; they voted for us. And with regard to the mandate, it’s all about continuity, and we are focusing on health, education, and infrastructural development. This is what we’re standing on, and we thank God.”
