Parents of students abducted on Monday by terrorists from Government Day Secondary School, Lassa, in Askira/Uba LGA of Borno State, have reportedly said that 37 students are still missing.
Troops rescued 10 students and a teacher shortly after gunmen attacked the school on Monday morning while students were sitting for the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) conducted by the National Examinations Council (NECO).
However, Punch quoted some parents as saying that the Borno State Government has opened a register for families to report missing persons.
One parent said he discovered that 37 names had so far been recorded as missing.
The newspaper reported that the state government also dispatched a delegation led by Lawan Wakilbe, the commissioner for education, to assess the situation in the town.
Nahum Daso, the police spokesperson in Borno, earlier confirmed the abduction, adding that some students are still missing.
The incident adds to the growing list of schoolchildren being abducted from school premises by terrorists.
Between May 13 and 14, militants attacked a primary school in Chibok, Borno State, and abducted 42 children.
