A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain has said their new strategy is to link Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to corruption.

The chieftain who spoke to this newspaper off the record said Osinbajo had become increasingly popular among All Progressives Congress (APC) personalities for 2023.

“Nigerians generally see Osinbajo has a man who has integrity and are tipping him to succeed his boss who has failed woefully but we won’t allow that to happen.

“We will deploy all strategies available to rubbish him by linking him to multiple corruption cases.

The PDP chieftain said that the party also plans to unearth previous allegations against the VP.

“The more you say someone did something, the more people will believe. He has been linked with NEMA and FIRS in the past, we will resurrect those allegations. This will cast doubt in the minds of Nigerians.

The chieftain said that the party is desperate to return to power in 2023 and will support another northern candidate in the next general elections.

“We don’t care if the northerners rule for another four or eight years, we just want to return to power and we will do the needful.

The chieftain said it is unlikely that the party will support a southerner in 2023.

“We all know that the South does not have the vote power to win a national election without support of the north and if Atiku wants to run it is only right that we support him.

The chieftain said Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will also not be spared.

“We know of his media influence and the power he wields but that will not deter us,” he said, adding that, “2023 has already begun for PDP with elections in Edo and Ondo states.
