    Otu bans commercial motorcycles in Calabar

    The Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Otu has announced the ban on commercial motorcycle activities within the Calabar metropolis.

    The State Government communicated this in a press statement signed by Emmanuel Ogbeche, the Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Governor of Cross River State.

    In the press statement, the state government urged those who intend to use their motorcycles to earn a living not to operate within the city center.

    The statement stated that anyone caught breaking the directive will face the full wrath of the law.

    Also, the press release addressed those vandalizing state properties.

    It stated that those involved in vandalizing state properties like street lights, traffic lights, and lamp posts are advised to desist from such activities as culprits will be prosecuted.

    The press release reads:

    As the State Government Plans towards ensuring a safe and secured Cross River, the Governor, His Excellency Senator Prince Bassey Otu, after due consultation with key Security Chiefs in the state, has directed as follows:

    1. A total ban on the activities if all commercial motorcyclist within the Calabar metropolis.

    2. Those willing to use their motorcycles to earn a decent living are restricted only to remote areas away from the city centre.

    3). Anyone caught going against this directive will have the motorcycle impounded, and offender prosecuted.

    In the same vein, those involved in the criminal vandalization of public amenities like street lights, lamp post, traffic lights e.t.c are advised to desist forthwith, as culprits will be made to face the full wrath of the law.
