Professor Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, former Vice President of Nigeria, has affirmed that art showcasing and celebrating African culture is vital on a global stage.

Osinbajo made this statement at the exclusive pre-opening event for the Museum of Modern and Contemporary African Art in London, United Kingdom, hosted by Mr. Olusegun Paul Andrew.

Osinbajo, quoting Lois Lowry, says, “That’s why we have the museum, Matty, to remind us of how we came, and why: to start fresh and begin a new place from what we had learned and carried from the old.”

He commended, “This museum is more than just a collection of artworks; it represents our rich cultural heritage and the powerful redefinition of the African story from our unique perspective.

“Initiatives like this are vital for showcasing and celebrating African culture on the global stage, enhancing Nigeria’s cultural prominence through the transformative power of art. Being part of this remarkable event reaffirmed my belief in the importance of preserving and promoting our heritage.
