The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has denied reports that Victor Osimhen is leaving the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) camp in Morocco.

A FIFA and CAF-accredited journalist, Adepoju Samuel, spoke with the official about an outburst between Osimhen and Ademola Lookman during the round of 16 game against Mozambique, which ended 4-0 for the Super Eagles.

Samuel wrote on his X handle on Tuesday, “A top team official just confirmed the latest situation over yesterday’s incident.

“The official said everything has been sorted since last night, and we are all good. There was no discussion about Osimhen leaving the tournament. The issue has been resolved as a family.”

Remember that Nigerian football fans chastised Osimhen for his emotional outburst at Lookman during the match.

The Galatasaray striker was caught on camera shouting at Lookman in the 63rd minute after the Atalanta player squandered a chance with Osimhen open.

At that point, Lookman had already set up two chances for Osimhen, one with a direct assist and the other through Akor Adams.

In the video, Osimhen first pulls away from Captain Wilfred Ndidi, then points his finger angrily at Lookman before ranting at his teammate. At the end, he was heard saying in pidgin, “No try am again,” which translates to “do not try that again.”

Osimhen requested to be substituted and was booed off the pitch when Moses Simon replaced the striker.

The event drew extensive criticism on the social media platform X, with supporters questioning Osimhen’s attitude despite the team’s strong performance.

However, on Tuesday, Lookman uploaded photos of himself on the pitch with Victor Osimhen and Bruno Onyemaechi following Nigeria’s triumph over Mozambique in the Africa Cup of Nations round of 16.

The player posted the photo on his official Instagram page on Tuesday, captioned “TOGETHER ALWAYS.”

Also, both Eagles coach Eric Chelle and captain Wilfred Ndidi have refuted rumors of a misunderstanding between the two talismans, encouraging Nigerians to continue to support the squad as they prepare to face either Algeria or DR Congo in the quarterfinals.
