The Controller of Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun II Area Command, Comptroller Olusola Alade, on Friday, said that the Command generated a total sum of N12, 830,493,630.06 as revenue between January and June 2024.

Alade said that this is compared to the sum of N8,505,038,818.30 generated during the same period last year.

He disclosed that the revenue generated within this period when compared with that of last year showed a significant 51% differential of N4,326,454,811.76.

This is just as the Command has equally discovered 11 factories and one bonded terminal that have not been remitting taxes to the federal government.

He, however, said that requisite steps have now been taken to ensure that such factories begin to fulfil their financial obligation to the federal government.

Alade disclosed on Friday at a press briefing held at the Command’s office, Abeokuta.

Alade said “The command generated the sum of twelve billion, eight hundred and thirty million, four hundred and ninety-three thousand, six hundred and thirty-naira, six kobo (N12,830,493,630.06) as revenue for the period under review.

“This can be compared to eight billion, five hundred and five million, thirty-eight thousand, eight hundred and eighteen-naira, thirty kobo (N8,505,038,818.30) generated in the corresponding period of last year. 2023.

“There is therefore a differential of (N4,326,454,811.76) which is a significant improved by 51%.”

Giving a further breakdown of the revenue generated in the last three months, Alade said that the command raked in N3,486,961,186.71 in April, made N2,801,833,739.40 while in June our revenue collection leapt to N3,664,776,499.07.

This significant increase in the Command’s revenue drive particularly in the last three months was attributed to the improved motivation of the officers as well as continuous deployment of intelligence and monitoring unit of the Command, leading to the discovery of 11 factories and one bonded terminal that have now been put under excise control.

The customs boss listed the companies discovered to have allegedly not been paying requisite taxes to the federal government including Sygen Pharmaceutical Limited, Sprout and Kingsberg Nigeria Limited, Adesouthern Nigeria Limited, Abraham & Sarah Beverages Nigeria Limited, Oyinloye Honey Double Crown, Oluyemi Akintan Nigeria Enterprises and Lorna Nigeria Limited

Others are Makindez Multi-business Ventures, Digo Herbal Remedy Limited, Broadway Food & Beverages Limited, Beezun Flavoured Drinks and Nellyvan Global Limited (Bonded terminal)

While thanking the officers of the Ogun Area II Customs command for their patriotism and dedication to service, Alade solicited further cooperation from various factories on timely payment of appropriate Excise Duty and other charges payable to the Federal government.

He said that in line with the policy drive of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the Command will continue to put in place necessary measures to improve on the collections with adequate support from other units of the service.
