Bauchi State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested Zainab Malam Barka, 35, and her accomplice for allegedly stealing goats.

They are residents of Madara District in the Katagum Local Government Area.

Parading the suspects alongside others, the Command’s spokesman Garkuwa Y. Adamu, said that Zainab, with the help of one Usman Abubakar, 50, specialises in stealing goats.

According to him, no fewer than 22 goats were stolen by the duo.

He said preliminary investigation revealed that she stole 22 goats in two batches, adding that the first batch of eight goats was stolen on December 23 last year, which she sold at the rate of N77, 000.

Adamu added that a week after, she went back to the same location and stole 14 goats which she took to Misau Market for sale as usual.

He, however, said that luck ran against her when she was arrested by personnel of the NSCDC in Misau Division, adding that the suspects will soon be charged to court immediately after investigations were completed.

Other suspects paraded are political thugs popularly known as Sara-Suka terrorising Misau Town, headquarters of Misau Local Government Area of the state.

The spokesman said those arrested and paraded by the Command are Auwal Usman, 17, and Ibrahim Ibrahim, 18, all of Misau Town.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects used machetes and knives in attacking four people who are currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Azare as a result of the injury they sustained,” he said.
