    BREAKING: No increase on electricity tariff on April 1 – NERC

    The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has declared that electricity tariff will not be increased on April 1 contrary to reports in the some section of the media.

    In a statement on Tuesday, the NERC said it has issued an order stopping increase in electricity tariff. “NERC has issued Order no- 198/2020 entitled ‘Order on the Transition to Cost Reflective Tariffs in NESI.’

    “The order directs operators to submit a performance improvement plan (PIP) committing them to a higher quality of service.

    NERC said it retains the existing tariff regime order 198/2020. “There shall be no increase in tariff of end-use customers on April 1, 2020. Performance Improvement Plan will form the basis for future tariff review.”
