The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, has described the death of his daughter Fatima as a great loss that “brought many people together.”
In a statement on his verified X page on Tuesday, the bereaved father mentioned that despite Fatima’s physical challenges, she was “able to touch hearts in very soothing ways, including me.”
Chronicle NG reported that the 25-year-old died on Friday and has since been buried according to Islamic rites.
Speaking on her demise, the NNPCL boss wrote, “My daughter Fatima departed at her appointed time and I look forward to meeting her in Jannah by Allah’s grace. While the loss is great by all measures, we remain grateful to God for all his mercies.
“I didn’t know the depth of her connections with many people and what she meant to many. Despite her physical challenges, she is able to touch hearts in very soothing ways, including mine.
“Above all, her demise brought many people together and demonstrated that we all can care for others irrespective of our social circumstances.”
He also thanked friends and well wishers for their prayers and show of support as his family mourns the deceased.
“I profoundly thank our leaders, family members, friends, associates, colleagues, our teachers, and the countless unmentioned that joined us to pray for the repose of her soul and for consoling us,” Kyari added.
