President Bola Tinubu stumbled while entering a ceremonial vehicle at the 2024 Democracy Day event on Wednesday.

Tinubu approached the vehicle immediately after arriving at the programme’s venue, Eagles Square in Abuja.

The president lost his footing just as he was about to climb onboard the vehicle.

However, despite the slip, the president soon regained his balance and resumed the proceedings.

The gathering at Eagles Square was part of a series of events commemorating the country’s Democracy Day.

Reacting to the president’s fall, X user, Pure Stanley
describes it as “karma” when he says, “This is the so-called president of Nigeria. No wonder the economy of Nigeria is unstable, since the man at the wheel of leadership is unfit.

“During his inauguration on May 29, 2023, he almost fell on the stage; today, June 12, 2024, he fell on the stage. Karma at work.”

While Ben Nwa Obowo argued that “this man should be in old people’s homes,” Udinwenyi mentioned that “they wanted to form a hard man; they know he can’t walk alone, but they were trying to prove that he was healthy and sound, and now he has disappointed them.”

Amid the scorn, Adewale Damilare said, “I will never laugh at this. This can happen to anyone. Even Joe Biden experienced the same.

“My issue with President Tinubu is about his insensitive policies, which the populace is suffering from. He should do better or be booted out.”

Other reactions to the Tinubu’s fall include:

“Nigeria’s self-acclaimed President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, falls down on Democracy Day. Nigerians, is this who you accepted to rule you?” Lady Blessing.

“The man keeps breaking records provokingly. The first Nigerian president to fall on Democracy Day,” Fuwa Joseph

“God of the 90th minutes knows that since the inception of democracy in Nigeria, no democratic process has ever been stolen such that the blind see it as a stolen mandate. So, we are celebrating ‘Falling Democracy Day,” Ehiz Emmanuel.

“This isn’t funny at all. Let’s keep the presidency apart. This is someone’s father, and at this age he needs proper care and attention. The people around him shouldn’t let this mistake repeat itself again. I pray he doesn’t get hurt. I pray God helps him. God bless Nigeria,” Hukwu Nonso.

“No one should make jest of or disparage an elderly person’s mistakes, even if he’s the president. Reaching the 70s is no small achievement, and I pray to live that long myself,” Señido Dansiode.

“But this is a normal misstep that can happen to anyone. Even the ever-resilient and gym-going athletes trip in this fashion. Unless you are here to stir up an issue where there is none, this has nothing to do with his health,” said Ahmad Tata.
