Nigerians praise NSCDC operatives over professionalism, zero scandal

Nigerians have applauded the ”professionalism” of the operatives of the Nigeria Security and Defence Corps, NSCDC.

In various statements on social media, Nigerians noted that operatives of the NSCDC carry out their lawful duties appropriately, ”unlike their counterparts.”

They alleged that unlike the police and the army, the NSCDC is seldom involved in bribery scandals or other nefarious schemes.

Some operatives of the Nigerian police and the operatives of the army are infamous for collecting bribes at checkpoints, harassing, and intimidating innocent Nigerians.

On Friday, the Public Relations Officer of the police, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, warned errant policemen to desist from misusing the name and office of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, in victimising unsuspecting members of the public.

In reaction, some Nigerians mentioned that such a development is seldom seen or heard about the operatives of the NSCDC.

This publication highlights some of the applause the NSCDC received on X from Nigerians.

Cross, ”The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) is one underrated paramilitary agency.

They’ve gone about doing their jobs. No reports of extortion, accidental discharge since 2011, or oppression of youths. Just calm, professional, and dedicated. Big ups to them!”

Simon Cole, ”They were the best during the Edo state election. Strictly neutral. When people came for ballot boxes, they resisted and stood firm. They are the ones who mostly ensured the alleged rigging could not happen at the voting centres. In fact, one of the officers in my polling unit sat on the ballot box and dared any thug to try anything. NSCDC I remove the cap for Una. People took note of your ethical conduct. You guys tried your best.”

Marvellous A, ”Some years ago, they rented several rooms in a hotel where I was working and stayed for over a month. Looking back now, I think their behaviour was quite different from men of the NPF. Interestingly, two compounds away was a police station.”

Anaga Banner, ”This is exactly why Sim Fubara uses them more for his activities and security in Rivers State.  Even gave them a lot of new Hilux.  If he had his way, the police in Rivers State would not even work again.

Oyekadupe Peter, ”I guess it is because politicians don’t have a need for them yet. The moment they become a major player in our security architecture, politicians will start from their topmost leadership and boom! The entire system collapses and serves the interests of a few minorities.”

Olumide, ”That’s one agency of the government that has well-qualified and trained personnel, unlike the other paramilitary agencies.”

Gbemiga, ”All of them are mostly graduates and are well educated ????, unlike the NPF; they collect primary school leaving certificates, and most of them don’t use social media.”

OGB Martins, ”True, I don’t know if it’s because of the nature of their brief that they don’t come in contact regularly with citizens or they are just disciplined. But yeah, they have been cool. They are what our army guys used to be before they messed everything up. Now begging at checkpoints.

Nubi Precious, ”I have already said it: the only way to reform the police is to transfer the NSCDC to the police force and do the psychiatric test on all officers of the police force. In real time, over 70% will fail. Instead of taking them out of the police, they should be transferred to the military.”

Hetty, ”This crossed my mind some days back. We’ve seen crazy videos from even non-gun-wielding agencies like FRSC and VIO. Police own is now normal. But I’ve never seen or heard NSCDC officers misbehaving. I hope they keep it that way. I’m even afraid to praise them.”

Chris Atogor, ”If you will say I exaggerate, I would have to say they are even more professional than even our military.”

Funmi, ”The NSCDC is really underrated and even more trained than the police.  If you saw them in their full armour, you’d love them more.”

David Eriabie, ”I thought I was the only one who noticed all you have said about them. I have said it before, and let me say it again: The entire NPF needs to be disbanded and replaced with the NSCDC.”
