Sen. Shehu Sani has described as ‘devilish’ a book written to espouse the achievements of former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari.

Written by Femi Adeshina, the books titled ‘Muhammadu Buhari: The Nigerian Legacy – 2015 – 2023’, and ‘Working with Buhari’, espoused the legacies and achievements of the Buhari-led administration.

The books, which were launched on Tuesday with President Bola Tinubu and former Nigerian presidents like Olusegun Obasanjo in attendance, have drawn various criticisms from a cross-section of Nigerians.

Speaking on the launch of the books, former senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Sen. Shehu Sani, described the books as ”devilish”.

Sani, in a statement on his verified X handle on Tuesday, said, ”Nigerians don’t need to read Buhari’s book because everyone is now living the script of his book, from its bedeviling genesis to its bewildering revelation.”

Reacting to Sani’s statement, a netizen simply identified as Voltaire stated, ”Why would any sane man, woman, or even animal read a book “written” by Buhari? What does he want to say that we didn’t see in his 8 years of misgovernance characters by crass incompetence, gross ineptitude, and overarching nepotism?”

For Peter Oshen, he noted that the former Nigerian leader “is the biggest mistake that ever happened to Nigeria. I don’t know if he read the newspaper!”

Describing his administration as an ”utter failure”, Obiora Otu stated that the book ”should have been titled ‘Learning How to Fail.’ ‘The failure of a former head of state and president’ Buhari’s administration was an utter failure, but from what is going on now, I don’t know.”

While Emeka Opara described the former Nigerian leader as ”the worst thing that has ever happened to this country”, Tammy Solomon noted that ”Only those he empowers will buy such books and later dump them in their library to gather dust.

”What is in his book that will inspire anyone when his real life never did any good for the nation?”

Ukwayi, who accused the former Nigerian president of destroying the economy of the country, noted, ”I mean, what’s Buhari writing about? It may be how he destroyed the Nigerian economy with bad policies.”

Opara Mbaitoli argued that no sensible person would spend money to read the former Nigerian president’s book. He said, ”I wonder if any sensible person will care to flip through the pages; Buhari is an atrocity we all are living in.”

Oga Mayor PCFR, in reaction to the book launch, opined that Buhari’s name should be erased from the lapse of Nigeria’s history.

He said, ”I find it rather disturbing that the name Buhari, which should be blacklisted, is still celebrated by some misguided people.”

Furthermore, he accused the former Nigerian president of laying ”the foundation of criminality with impunity in Nigeria today. Under his watch, terrorists were celebrated, mass murders openly claimed responsibility with no consequences for their actions, kidnappers, and bandits were seen as common criminals, and Buhari should be facing trial and not launching books.”

While Oblokoto called the former Nigerian president and the APC ”failures”, Yamtech said, ”I wonder what tangible or concrete thing could be found in such a book. I hope the book will feature his numerous failures and constant ‘I am not aware’ excuses.

”May we never have such a sleeping government again.”

Condemning the book further, another netizen noted, ”What would Buhari write in his book? Is it how he mismanaged Nigeria’s wealth and led Nigeria’s economy into succession two consecutive times?”

In his reaction, Oluseyi Philips quoted the former governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola, saying, “Restructuring Nigeria without restructuring the minds of Nigerians is a futile experiment.”

Ex-president Muhammadu Buhari came into power in 2015 after defeating an incumbent president in the person of former president Goodluck Jonathan.
