Nigerians have criticised singer Innocent Idibia, popularly called 2Baba or 2Face, over the crash of his marriage to his heartthrob, Annie Macaulay-Idibia.
In a statement shared on his verified Instagram page on Sunday, 2Baba mentioned that he and Annie have been living separately for a while.
He also disclosed that he has filed for divorce in a bid to nullify his marriage to the actress.
“Hello to my beautiful people of all federations,” he said.
“Well, this thing I want to say is short but also long. I and Annie Macauley have been separated for a while now and have currently filed for divorce.
“I would grant a press release soon to say my story, not because it is anyone’s right to know about my personal life but because I love my people and I need them to know my innocence or offence.
“Stay blessed, my people. I love you all,” 2Baba added.
The estranged couple has been married for 21 years and has birthed 4 children.
Reacting to the news of the crash of the celebrity marriage, popular media personality Toke Makinwa criticised 2Baba for allegedly ruining the marriage.
She also pledged her unwavering support to Annie amid the divorce saga.
”This is wrong on all levels and you should be ashamed of yourself for bringing this here. Bring it on. If you think she is alone, let me tell you here that you will have to fight us all,” Makinwa said.
In his reaction, social media critic Daniel Regha said, ”2Face coming online to announce his separation from Annie is kinda petty; this better not be for that reality show. And even if both are having real-life issues & he wants to get a divorce, there’s no reason to make it messy. Both need to handle the situation like grown adults, at least for the sake of their children. It doesn’t matter who’s the problem.”
