Abuja Electricity Distribution Plc (AEDC) has announced that FCT residents will experience a seven-hour blackout today.

The distribution company attributed the power interruption (blackout) to substation preventive maintenance exercises conducted by Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

Chronicle NG reports that the company issued a statement on Saturday.

“We wish to inform residents in Suleja, Kaduna Road, Madalla, Zuba, and environs that the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) will be conducting a preventive maintenance exercise on the 60MVA 132/33kV transformer at Suleja Transmission Station today, Saturday, July 13, 2024, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., the statement reads.

“Similarly, parts of Maitama, Katampe, Mpape, Idu, Life Camp, and environs will experience a power outage due to the maintenance of a 100 MVA transformer owned by the TCN at Katampe 2 Transmission Substation between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. today, July 13, 2024.
