Nigerian comic actor and skit maker Dabo Adebayo, popularly called Mr. Macaroni, has described the Nigerian Senate as an “embarrassing lot.”
Macaroni, in a statement shared on his verified X page on Friday, berated the Senate and its leadership for allegedly failing to serve as a check to the executive arm of government.
Macaroni lamented that the Senate has become a “rubber stamp,” singing allegiance to President Bola Tinubu rather than checking his “excesses.”
Macaroni, known for being vociferous against the alleged maladministration of the All Progressive Congress-led administration, alleged that the Red Chamber, under the leadership of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, is only good at sharing ”money.”
”And to the Nigerian Senate! My goodness! You people are so useless,” he said.
“We have a senate that sings, ‘On your mandate we shall stand.’”
“Swearing allegiance to the president, you are supposed to be checking and balancing?” Macaroni queried.
The comic actor further lamented that, “You can’t even summon the President and ask questions on behalf of the people of Nigeria that you ought to be representing.”
”But they know how to share our money (prayers) to their mailboxes and oppress Nigerians with the same power the people have given to them. Embarrassing lots,” he added.
