The Nigerian Embassy in Doha has issued a security advisory to Nigerian nationals in Qatar, urging them to register their presence and strictly comply with safety directives from Qatari authorities as the Middle East crisis escalates.

In a statement issued late Saturday, the embassy said the advisory was necessary “in view of the evolving security situation in the region.”

It directed Nigerians residing in Qatar to register by sending their personal details to nigerianembassy.doha@gmail.com.

The required information includes full name, contact address in Qatar, mobile number, and copies of their international passport and/or Qatar Identification (QID) card.

The mission also advised citizens to take all precautionary measures as directed by host authorities and to rely only on official communication channels for updates.

“The Embassy is monitoring the situation and will provide updates as and when necessary,” the statement read.

The advisory comes on the heels of a fresh round of military strikes between Israel and Iran.

The latest escalation was triggered after joint US and Israeli strikes on multiple Iranian cities early Saturday.

Israeli authorities described the operation as a pre-emptive move aimed at degrading Iran’s offensive capabilities.

Iran subsequently retaliated by launching drones and missiles toward Israeli territory.

The country also launched reprisal attacks on US military bases across the Middle East.

Authorities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) temporarily closed sections of their airspace as a precautionary measure following the exchange of fire, leading to flight disruptions and heightened security across major airports.

Other countries in the Gulf region also reviewed aviation and security protocols amid fears of spillover.
