The Nigerian Police has warned Nigerians to desist from fighting or inflicting injuries on others.
Describing the acts as criminal, the Police Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, noted in a statement on Tuesday that fighting is punishable under the law.
Urging Nigerians to avoid fighting because “it could be destructive,” the police noted, “that it could lead to death or deformity.”
Adejobi’s statement reads, “I don’t know why people engage in physical combat. Fighting can easily lead to death and permanent deformity.
I said sometimes that when you fight and inflict injury on someone and it’s recorded that the injury was caused by your action, it’s presumed under the law that if that injured person dies within 1 year and a day of that incident, you are liable and will be held responsible for his death.
So, avoid fighting or causing injuries to someone. It is criminal and could be destructive.
