SP Bright Edafe, Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State, has called for the demonitization of all social media platforms.

Edafe made the plea in a statement on his X handle on Wednesday.

According to his statement, he lamented the alleged spreading of fake news, which he claims devalues the country.

He blamed social media influencers for allegedly spreading fake news in a bid to make money online.

According to the Police PRO, the demonization of social media “would do us a lot of good.”

Edafe’s statement reads,We enjoy spreading negative news about our r country.” We think we are ridiculing the government of the day, but we are only ridiculing ourselves.

“The earlier we realise this, the better for us. Especially these so-called social media influencers.

“How I wish this monetization of social media could stop; it would do us a lot of good.”
