A Chinese man, Gz Zhen, has been arrested by the Abia State Police Command for allegedly pushing his female employee, Ocheze Ogbonna, to death.

This was disclosed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, on Thursday.

According to the PPRO, the command received information about the alleged murder of Ogbonna by his Chinese employer, swung into action, and arrested the suspect.

Chronicle NG reported that the Chinese boss had reportedly made sexual advances to Ogbonna, who reportedly rejected his passes.

Ogbonna, a crane operator at Zhen’s Inner Galaxy company, was reported to have been pushed down from a crane, leading to her death.

Infuriated by the news of her death, youths of her community in Umuahala-Asa mobilized themselves and marched down to the company’s gate to protest, but the men of the Nigerian Army who were guarding the company allegedly opened fire directly at the youths, injuring one of them, who is currently battling for his life.

However, the PPRO, in an update on the incident, noted that an investigation was going on.

She said, “We got a report alleging that Mr. GZ ZHEN, through his actions, led to the death of one of his staff members by the name of Vivian Ocheze Munachi.

“The suspect has been arrested while an investigation is ongoing.”

Chronicle NG reported in September 2022 that a Chinese man, Frank Geng-Quangrong, trailed his lover, Ummukhulsum Buhari, popularly known as Ummita, to her residence in Janbulo, in Kano State, and murdered her.

The murder of Ummukhulsum, the girlfriend of the Chinese, occurred at the popular Janbulo quarters in Kano.

It was reported that the Chinese trailed his victim into her room at Janbulo and allegedly slit her throat. Some people were said to have apprehended the culprit before security agents arrived at the scene.

However, in March 2024, a Kano-based High Court sentenced the Chinese to die by hanging for killing Ummukhulsum.
