The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit (Taskforce) today confiscated 70 vehicles for flagrant violation of the Lagos State traffic law as amended.
The vehicles were impounded during coordinated operations carried out at target locations where reckless traffic violations by commercial transporters cause avoidable traffic congestion and general public nuisance.
Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce, CSP Adetayo Akerele, warned motorists in the habit of traffic recklessness, maintaining that the agency under his stewardship will not spare violators of environmental and traffic laws of the state any breathing space. He added that the improvement and preservation of environmental sanity, safety, and security for the citizenry will only occur when citizens cooperate and obey relevant laws.
The exercise and enforcement were carried out at the Okuta road junction in Bariga, Oba Akran road by Kodesoh under the bridge, at Ikeja and Ladipo by five stars, and along the Oshodi-Apapa expressway.
CSP Akerele further stated that the agency will not tolerate or submit to any lawless motorist’s indiscipline, as traffic jams are not a natural occurrence or the result of divine intervention but rather a result of recklessness on the road.
