The late arrival of party agents has delayed voting in several polling units during the Lagos State local council election in Ketu-Agboyi on Saturday.

Also, there was a low turnout at the polls because officials from the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission waited interminably for registered voters to arrive.

According to reports, LASIEC personnel arrived at polling stations early but patiently waited for political party agents to arrive before beginning the voting process.

Four registered voters were present at Polling Unit 002, Ward C, located at 21 Agidi Road, within the Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area, according to LASIEC officials, with just the All Progressives Congress agent present as of 9:00 a.m.

The presiding officer, Mrs Stella Emmanuel, stated, “We’re patiently waiting for other party agents before we start the voting exercise.”

But beyond 9:00 a.m., no party agents had come in PU 008, Ward A on Ajiboye Street, under Agboyi-Ketu LCDA.

Mr Adesina Akeem, an electoral commission official, highlighted that the absence of party agents would have a negative impact on the exercise.

The Labour Party and APC agents have arrived at PU 028, Ward B, on 20 Oluwakemi Street, Lagos, but no voters have shown up to complete their civic duty.

Meanwhile, APC and Peoples Democratic Party agents were present at PUs 030 and 050, which are located at numbers 20 and 6 on Fadiya Street, respectively, as well as PU 052, Ward A, which is located at Adisa Akintoye Street.
