Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the immediate previous National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has welcomed President Bola Tinubu’s choice of Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe as the party’s new National Chairman.

In a statement issued Thursday night, Ganduje hailed Prof. Yilwatda’s emergence as strategic, emphasising that it occurs at a vital point in the party’s history.

The former Kano governor also expressed great trust in the capacity, intellect, maturity, and administrative competence of the incoming chairman to carry the party forward.

He also used the opportunity to praise the APC National Executive Committee NEC and other party organs for ensuring a transparent and consensus-driven process that resulted in the election of Prof. Yilwatda.

Dr. Ganduje tasked the new National Chairman with building on the solid foundations and legacies he (Ganduje) established during his tenure, just as he had built on the efforts and accomplishments of his predecessor, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

He praised President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for their statesmanlike leadership and wisdom in steering the party through the transition process that resulted in Yilwatda’s emergence.

“Our president and vice president have once again shown maturity and farsightedness in the affairs of our great party. Their commitment to ensuring cohesion and stability within the APC is commendable, and I urge all stakeholders to rally around the new leadership to deliver on the president’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” he said.

Ganduje called on the National Working Committee (NWC), NEC, state chapters, youth and women wings, as well as all other stakeholders of the APC to offer their full cooperation and unwavering support to the new chairman, stressing that unity, discipline, and loyalty must remain the cornerstone of the party under the new leadership.

“As I bow out with a sense of fulfilment, I wish to assure Prof. Yilwatda of my unflinching support, counsel, and brotherly solidarity. I urge all our leaders, governors, lawmakers, and faithful party members across the federation to queue behind him and give him the necessary backing to consolidate on our party’s vision of building a united, progressive, and inclusive political platform for all Nigerians,” he stated.

He pledged to continue offering his experience and political advice as needed, reaffirming his commitment to the APC’s growth and the country’s democratic development.

He concluded by praying for divine wisdom, strength, and courage for Prof. Nentawe as he assumes leadership at a time of great opportunity and responsibility.
