A recent battle between farmers and herders in Adamawa State’s Kodomun Community in Demsa Local Government Area has claimed eight lives and injured many more.

Suleiman Nguroje, the state Police Command Public Relations Officer, confirmed the event, adding a combined security force had been rushed to the area to restore order, but no arrests had been made thus far.

The annual battle has claimed multiple lives and ruined cattle and property worth millions of naira over the years.

The most recent fight was apparently sparked by the murder of a youth in Kodomun by suspected herders.

The issue was reported to have spread to the neighbouring villages of Kudiri, Sabonlayi, Kwayine, and Gorogbakai.

Addressing an extended meeting at the Hama Batta palace, His Royal Majesty Homun Alhamdu Gladstone Teneke, the Chairman of Demsa LGA, Akham Jalo, called for calm and asked parties to find a long-term solution to the ongoing problem.
