The Nigerian Army recovered ammunition, neutralised 177 terrorists, and arrested 263 during operations across the country this week.
This was revealed in a statement released by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, during a performance review on Friday.
Buba said, “During the week, troops neutralised 177 and arrested 263 people. Troops also arrested 41 perpetrators of oil theft and rescued 158 kidnapped hostages. In the South-South, troops denied the oil theft of the estimated sum of N501,089,400 million.
“Furthermore, troops recovered 170 assorted weapons and 4,692 assorted ammunition.
“The breakdown is as follows: six PKT guns, 63 AK47 rifles, three FN rifles, one SMG rifle, 29 locally fabricated guns, 37 Dane guns, 20 pump action guns, one short double barrel gun, two double barrel guns, two single barrel guns, one locally made single barrel, six locally fabricated pistols, four bandoliers, RPG bombs, an RPG charger, two primed IEDs, and materials.”
In the same vein, Chronicles NG reports that no fewer than six terrorists terrorising the Birnin Gwari general areas in Kaduna’s Birnin Gwari Local Government Area have been killed by soldiers of Operation Whirl Punch.
Samuel Aruwan, the state commissioner of internal security and home affairs, stated this on Friday in Kaduna.
He stated that the soldiers effectively evacuated terrorists in eMaidaro, Ngade Alha, Dogon Dawa, Damari, Saulawa, Farin Ruwa, Maganda, Sabon Layi, and Kampanin Doka villages, all located in the dangerous Birnin-Gwari general area.
He did, however, say that four of the terrorists were killed in Saulawa and two more were neutralised in Farin Ruwa.
