Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, senator representing Kogi central, has disowned a viral TikTok video that shows her in a playful clip with a background song associated with President Bola Tinubu.

In a public disclaimer on her verified X account, the Kogi lawmaker said she does not own a TikTok account.

Natasha Akpoti added that the post, which featured a short clip of her with the background tune “Omo Ologo,” did not emanate from her.

“I do not own a TikTok account,” the senator wrote.

“Many parody accounts exist in my name on X (Twitter), Instagram, Facebook and TikTok. Some have garnered large following.”

She also said the viral video was created using an old clip from 2023 and was being circulated with misleading intent.

“While I hold the President in utmost respect; I’d urge everyone to disregard the mischievous post made using an old 2023 video of mine,” she said.

Her statement comes after a version of the video surfaced online, set to “Omo Ologo,” a track popularised by Dauda Kahutu Rarara in praise of Tinubu.

The song, performed earlier this month at a Katsina dinner event attended by Tinubu, portrays the president as a victorious leader who triumphed over critics.

Though the video went viral, some social media users expressed doubts about its origin, prompting Natasha Akpoti to issue a formal denial.

Akpoti-Uduaghan has been at the centre of political controversy in recent weeks following her suspension from the senate and a legal dispute with senate president Godswill Akpabio.

The senator had published a sarcastic apology to Akpabio on Facebook, which his legal team is asking a federal high court to delete.

Natasha Akpoti’s lawyers have pushed back, arguing that the motion amounts to an attempt to silence her.

The court is expected to rule on the matter on May 12.

Her suspension followed a heated exchange with Akpabio in the chamber and accusations of sexual harassment levelled against the senate president.
