The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, operating under Operation HADIN KAI, has successfully dismantled a terrorists’ logistics network located in the Mandara Mountains, Borno State.
In a statement released on Monday, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information at the NAF Headquarters, confirmed the operation.
He revealed that the target area had long served as a stronghold for the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad, JAS, faction of Boko Haram.
According to Ejodame, “the environment has been a fortified enclave for the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) faction of Boko Haram.”
He further explained that the Mandara Mountains, known for their rugged and mountainous terrain along Nigeria’s border with Cameroon, had recently recorded heightened terrorist activities, including the build-up of logistics and the presence of senior JAS commanders.
“The operation followed intelligence received about the insurgents who have turned the place into a safe haven for terrorist commanders,” the statement added.
Ejodame also stated that NAF aircraft carried out “a series of well-coordinated air interdictions, targeting and destroying high-value terrorist infrastructure including logistics warehouses, command centres and defensive shelters.”
