Hosts Morocco secured their spot in the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with a commanding performance versus Cameroon in Rabat.

One goal in each half, netted by Brahim Diaz and Ismael Saibari, was sufficient to defeat their rivals, who seldom posed a threat.

In the 26th minute, Diaz scored from close range after a corner, using his thigh to redirect Ayoub El Kaabi’s flick into the net, marking his fifth goal of the tournament.

Saibiri’s objective was also scored from a set piece, striking a low left-footed shot after seizing a loose ball from a free kick.

Competing in a heated environment reminiscent of the fervor generated by North African supporters at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Walid Regragui’s team appeared to be in no significant jeopardy throughout a contentious match.

After equaling their historic journey to the semi-finals in Qatar, Regragui’s team is two victories away from securing the nation’s first AFCON title since 1976.

Morocco will possess a significant home advantage once more when they come back to this stadium on Wednesday (20:00 GMT) to compete against the victors of Saturday’s quarter-final featuring Algeria and Nigeria (16:00 GMT).
