France forward Kylian Mbappe added another chapter to his remarkable FIFA World Cup career on Thursday after leading France to a 2-0 quarter-final victory over Morocco, extending his list of tournament records and milestones.

Mbappe scored in the 59th minute, and Ousmane Dembélé added a second as France advanced to the semi-finals.

The goal also cemented the France captain’s status as the highest scorer in World Cup knockout matches, adding to a long list of accomplishments that have elevated him to the competition’s all-time greats.

Here are Mbappé’s major World Cup records and achievements:

    • Three World Cup appearances: Russia 2018, Qatar 2022, and 2026.
    • One World Cup title: Winner with France in 2018.
    • Two World Cup finals: Champion in 2018 and runner-up in 2022.
    • France’s joint-most capped World Cup player: 20 appearances, level with Hugo Lloris.
    • 17 World Cup victories: Level with Germany’s Miroslav Klose. Only Lionel Messi, with 20 wins, has more.
    • 20 World Cup goals: Joint-highest scorer in tournament history alongside Lionel Messi.
    • One goal per game: Averaging 20 goals in 20 World Cup matches.
    • Five World Cup assists.
    • Six braces across three World Cup tournaments.
    • One World Cup hat-trick: Scored in the 2022 final against Argentina.
    • 12 World Cup knockout goals: The highest tally by any player in the tournament’s history, surpassing previous record holders including Brazil’s Ronaldo and Leônidas.
    • Four goals in World Cup finals: The most by any player in World Cup final matches.
    • Golden Boot winner: Top scorer at the 2022 FIFA World Cup with eight goals.
    • FIFA Young Player Award: He won the award at the 2018 World Cup after helping France lift the trophy.

The 27-year-old Real Madrid star also became the first player to reach 12 goals in the knockout stages of the World Cup after scoring against Morocco, further extending the record he had already set earlier in the 2026 tournament.

Les Bleus will now face the winner of the quarterfinal between Spain and Belgium for a place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.
