Manchester United upset Premier League leaders Arsenal in a five-goal thriller at Emirates Stadium, with Matheus Cunha scoring the dramatic late winner.
The Gunners’ first home defeat of the season, following victories by championship contenders Manchester City and Aston Villa, has reduced their lead to four points.
Arsenal had a great start to the game, gaining the lead when United defender Lisandro Martinez threw the ball in his own net in the 29th minute.
The hosts gave Manchester United a way back into the game when Martin Zubimendi’s sloppy pass let Bryan Mbeumo through on goal, and the United striker easily passed David Raya and fired the ball into an empty net.
United then stunned the home team by taking the lead five minutes into the second half with a fantastic strike from Patrick Dorgu, who blasted in a shot off the underside of the crossbar.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta attempted to create a turnaround in the match by making four changes, bringing in Viktor Gyokeres, Eberechi Eze, Mikel Merino, and Ben White. Merino felt he had saved at least one point when he hauled in from a corner in the 84th minute.
However, only three minutes later, replacement Cunha received a feed from Kobbie Mainoo and curled a beautiful shot into the bottom corner from about 25 yards out.
Manchester United now sits in fourth place following their victory.
