Manchester United have revealed Harry Maguire has signed a new deal that will keep him at Old Trafford until June 2027, with an option for a further year.
According to ESPN, the 33-year-old was set to become a free agent at the end of the season but has agreed to a contract extension.
Maguire, who joined United from Leicester City for an estimated £80 million in 2019, has made 266 appearances and scored 17 goals.
He has been an important member of United’s defense, helping the squad rediscover form under interim manager Michael Carrick.
His performances since January have won him a return to the England squad for the March internationals.
Speaking about the deal, Maguire said, “Representing Manchester United is the ultimate honor. I am delighted to extend my journey at this incredible club and continue to play in front of our special supporters.
“The ambition and potential of this squad are clear, and I am confident our best moments are still ahead.”
Jason Wilcox, Manchester United’s director of football, lauded Maguire’s leadership and professionalism, adding he adds “invaluable experience” to the youthful and ambitious squad.
Maguire’s contract extension ensures that United retains one of their most experienced players as they look to compete for major trophies in the coming seasons.
